A house slab and the concrete areas around it serve different parts of a new build. The slab follows the design and dimensions in the approved plans; surrounds and other external areas are defined by their layout, levels and intended use. We review the relevant drawings and talk with the homeowner or builder about the areas included in the concrete package. Site access, delivery arrangements, the stage of preparation and the planned finish all affect how the work is organised. We can set formwork for regular slabs and discuss the sequence of the pour with the wider build programme. Structural details, reinforcement and drainage requirements need to come from the project documentation and responsible designer; we work to the agreed specifications.
